The Primary School at Newlands
Year 1 to Year 6
The primary school is broken into two key stages: Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2) and Key Stage 2 (Years 3 – 6). Our creative, child-led curriculum is designed around overarching concepts, which provide students with real-life context that integrates and connects all curriculum areas. As a school, we ensure that we offer a consistent and seamless progression as the children transition across the different phases throughout primary school.
Our bespoke curriculum is based on the National Curriculum for England, to ensure that the skills and knowledge gained align with UK expectations. However, our teaching is tailored to individual children to make the learning experience meaningful and inspiring.
At Newlands, every child is unique and our teaching is designed to treat all children as individuals. Our holistic approach means that parents/carers, class teachers, specialist teachers and learning assistants work very effectively together to support our ethos ‘to enable every child to achieve their potential’. Our teachers skillfully plan an interest-led curriculum, which empowers students to take the lead in their learning.
